We welcome you the beloved of God in our today's services. We thank God for each one of you and pray that each one of us will grow more and more closer to God during this lent season. Our today's topic is having a quit time with God derived from Mark 1:35 and Isaiah 41:1

In Isaiah 41:1, God is calling His people and telling them to be silent before Him and that their strength will be renewed. From this verse, we begin to see the importance of having a quit time with God.

Why do we need to have a quit time with God?
We need to have a quit time with God because in this life, we are faced with heavy burdens, warfare, personal crisis, intimidation and threats and many other complications in life.
When we go through the heroes and heroines of faith, we find that all of them overcame their personal challenges through having a quit time with God. In Daniel 6:10, Daniel spent quit time with God when his life was threatened for refusing to worship idols. Even when he was thrown to the lions, he came out alive because through prayer God protected him. David spent a lot of time with God whenever he had personal or national crisis. He was able to defeat his many enemies because through prayers, God protected him.

Jesus Christ offers the best example of the importance of having a quit time with God. In mark 1:35, He would wake up very early, go to a solitary place and spend time with God. He spent time with God whenever he had to make a major decision and God answered His prayer. In Luke 22:41, Jesus spent quit time with God as he neared his death on the cross. Since he was going to face a very painful experience, he was greatly agonized but after spending time with God, He was strengthened.

We remind us that we need to follow the example of Jesus in creating time with God. During this quit time, we can take time to listen to Him through His word and also take all our agonies to him. As a result, God will give us peace, joy, fulfilment and renew our strength. God bless you.
