We thank God for a good start in this new year; lets continue to trust in God for the safety of our children as they continue with their studies this term.
Our reflection this week is drawn from the book of Esther, (kindly plan to read the entire ten chapters). This book contains a remarkable story of Gods deliverance of his people that began in 483B.C,103 years after King Nebuchadnezzar had taken the Jews into captivity (2Kings 25). Much later, Cyrus the Persian King issued a decree allowing Jews to return back to their homeland-Jerusalem. Many opted to remain because they had established themselves there or were fearful of the dangerous journey back home.
As you read through the entire story, you will discover that Esther, ends up as the Queen while Mordecai rose to become the prime minister, with authority next to that of King Xerxes; all this can be attributed to Gods favor upon them. Gods favor placed them in positions of influence, ensured that their plan succeeded and eventually Gods people were protected from the evil scheme orchestrated by Haman.
Reading the book of Esther convinces us today that all of life lies under Gods plan and control. This year, let’s not give up on God, He is at work and in control of all things. His favor upon us will ensure that the doors that we desperately long for to be opened will be opened, and the ones that need to be closed will be closed. Gods favor upon Esther and Mordecai opened the door of opportunity for her to become the Queen and for Mordecai to be promoted- which eventually saved the entire Jewish community.
May Gods favor that was upon Esther and Mordecai be upon each one of us this year as we remain on the lookout for the door that God is opening for us.
